LPN Program Clinical & Skills Adjunct Instructor-Part Time

⦁ Strive to develop in the student a positive attitude toward his/her training, fellow workers, future employers and encourage good work habits 

⦁ Maintain student discipline at all times 

⦁ Maintain a fair, firm and friendly student relationship 

⦁ Start and end class at designated time. 

 

⦁ Impress upon student the importance of proper dress and general personal appearance as related to obtaining employment and progressing thereafter. 

⦁ Assist in follow‐up studies and maintain follow‐up records on former students. 

⦁ Be responsible for equipment and supplies assigned to the shop or classroom. 

⦁ Report immediately lost or damaged equipment. 

⦁ Report promptly any student offense which requires the attention of the administration. 

⦁ Make frequent contacts with local industry and business for placement of students and keeping instructional material up to date. 

⦁ Perform other duties as duties as directed and assigned by the administration 

⦁ Perform Other duties as defined by Nursing Program Coordinator 

Required Qualifications

Possess a current license as a registered nurse in the State of Tennessee or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) 
Demonstrated abilities in leadership, human relations, communication skills (written and verbal), and organizational skills. 
Evidence of strong work ethic as it relates to timeliness of reporting, oversight of multiple on-going projects, and the ability to work with industry/employers. 
Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of network systems; knowledge of student information management systems. 
Ability to exercise good judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions. 
Possess valid TN Drivers license.
Ability to travel with other programs within the consortium as needed.

Responsibilities

The Practical Nursing Instructor, under the direction of the Coordinator of Nursing Program and ultimately the institution President, shall be responsible for assisting in planning, developing, initiating and evaluating the approved instructional program for practical nursing students in both the classroom and clinical setting. 

 

Specific Duties  

 

Complete Tennessee Placement Pro training to manage students’ documents 
Schedule clinical rotations for each cohort 
Maintain student health records 
Data entry (Excel spread sheets) to share with clinical affiliates for clinical rotations 
Oversee Student Skill experiences by coordinating schedules for nursing students at each clinical location 
Assist with Skill Check offs 
Assist with Filing of student records 
Collect licensure pass rate and job placement and follow up of graduates 
Respond to messages & Questions regarding nursing program 
Assist in Clinical Placement of Newly licensed nurses 

 

Background checks will be completed on all new hires. Instructors will be asked to sign a background release authorizing TCAT McMinnville to complete a background check which will include the following: Sex Offender Registry, County Criminal &Federal Criminal. 

 

Physical Demands and Working Conditions (ADA REQUIREMENTS) 

Walking, climbing, bending and stooping.  
Work performed in office, testing center and classroom environments. Position requires the use of a computer. 
Sedentary Work – Walking or standing to a significant degree; sitting for brief periods of time; be able to bend and stoop; use body members (arms, hands, fingers). 

Skills

⦁ Knowledge of the principles and practices of practical nursing 

⦁ Expertise in the clinical skills required of the practical nurse 

⦁ Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Word, Excel cand other appropriate office software and applications 

⦁ Ability to deal tactfully with the public and co‐workers 

⦁ Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions 

⦁ Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly, and to plan and direct the work of others 

⦁ Demonstrate a commitment to student success 

 ⦁ Investigate and make a full report on every accident on the day the accident occurs, using the "Preliminary Accident Report Form." 

⦁ Maintain a well‐organized, safe, and clean shop and/or classroom

Salary Range

 Commensurate with experience, education and training according to Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines
